Save Robert Sheckley
Robert Sheckley, one of the greatest 60s era science fiction authors, caught a cold at a sci-fi convention in Kiev, and is now on a respirator. He lost his insurance card (though I'm unclear on why he can't just get a replacement card). Michael Moorcock and Neil Gaiman posted to their blogs, confirming his illness, and asking for support. There is now a pledge drive at Moorcock's site. The convention has paid his first round of bills, amounting to some $7000, and another round of $7000 is coming. So far the international community has donated $3500 (since last night). But the bills will keep coming, so now's the time to show your love for this fabulous elder statesman of science fiction.
