This document is an attempt to address questions about the ROM codebase that frequently arise, especially on the ROM mailing list. I do not in any way claim that the information here is authorative, official or even correct. I have however tried to make it as precise and accurate as possible. I take no liability whatsoever for any damages, loss of data or other consequences arising from the use of the information found in this document.
Many things involving muds and the running of them are subjective, and though I've tried to keep this FAQ free of any 'agenda', it will inevitably contain some points which have a high opinion content. Any opinions expressed within are mine solely, I in no way speak for the ROM consortium.
This document may be distributed freely, but to preserve attributions and keep things up to date, any part of it that is re-distributed publicly, in whole or in part, must contain both the accreditations for the part(s) used plus the address at which the current version can be found.

I am eager for feedback on this document, be it positive or negative. Suggestions will be very seriously considered, and corrections swiftly addressed if I find the FAQ is in error. Flames will be redirected to /dev/null, so don't bother, I'm thick-skinned.
Mail me at: garry@kycor.demon.co.ukMy original notion to attribute contributions at the point where they are used fell apart somewhat when given useful yet general material by some. I'll probably have to abandon such direct crediting in the long term, but I hope to maintain 'point of use' acreditation for those sections completely written by others, those I've no personal experience with or are directly subjective, such as book recommendations. This will be the place to find the names of those who have helped with this document, all of whom have my gratitude. If your name isn't here and it should be, send me abusive mail.
Thanks go to, in roughly alphabetical order:
Erwin Andreasen, Julie Boesen, Rich Bradshaw, Doug Brewer, Lantham, Shad
Muegge, Nebseni, Michael Weise.
Special thanks to Gabrielle Taylor for support, proof-reading, HTML enhancement and generally being a good egg.
Thanks must also go to the creators of Rom, Merc and Diku, for providing us with the codebases on which we build. Cheers guys :)
