About
The city of Ahlmarric sits atop the lands of the dead in the plane known as Asurake. Only the gods themselves may penetrate the seals between the solid earth and the ethereal void where souls dwell.
The lands of the dead have changed hands on many occasions. The oldest name known as a ruler is Damorgon, who was trapped in a crystal with the goddess of Law, Tyla, when he attempted to overreach himself. Then came a succession of petty, bickering powers that were supplanted by Sere's son Imoiran, a creature of great puissance who managed to subdue them all with his terrors.
Sere loathed her evil son, and sadly, she plotted his destruction, in conjunction with the Magelord Ceremon and the ancient goddess Eringarathe, then called Dameyante.
Dameyante persuaded Imoiran's son Angantyr to attempt a coup, the circumstances of which are described in his history. In the course of the coup, Imoiran, Angantyr, a fallen demon, Dameyante's daughter Consanguine, and many principalities of the underworld were slain. The raw power of these beings was absorbed that they could never walk again. Some say this demon was Atrivis, who, with Eringarathe, fathered Consanguine and Ulcyk.
Dameyante then sat on the throne of the underworld, carefully hedged by Sere and Ceremon, lest her old ambitions drive her to attempt to take more power. At her side was Arastar, and Ceremon's representative Krital, who watched over all her doings and reported to Ceremon.
Since the Orchid Fall, Dameyante has regained much power, and resumed her old name, Eringarathe. Ceremon, lost, no longer contrains her.
