Belekrom

Belekrom is the god of Healing, Justice, Honor, and Nobility. His worshippers tend to possess more defensive skills than most and are of either good or neutral alignment.

History

The history of Belekrom is shrouded in mystery and only fragments have come to be known to the mortal world. It is known that he was conceived and born to the Star Amala after she had been wrongfully seduced by the then fading god of virtue, Suthweil, at the behest of the childish half faery goddess Ourania. Why Suthweil would commit an act that went against his nature is open to much conjecture but it is commonly held that it was in fact Ourania's doing. Acting in a fit if indignant rage at a supposed insult to her powers and lineage Ourania beguiled Suthweil and forced the aging god to go against his nature and seduce the fair star Amala just to satisfy her infantile ego.

Belekrom was raised by his mother, and from her he learned the gentleness and compassion that would help to guide him through life as well as his understanding of nature and the healing arts that he would use to aid those he could. Suthweil, after his escape from the beguiling ways of Ourania, was wracked with guilt at what he had done and his lack of control that allowed him to be used, took Belekrom as his son and taught him the ways of Virtue and Honor that he had lived by. But the God that was Suthweil had changed since his abuse at the hands of Ourania.

There came a time when Belekrom was older that his father and he had an argument on the nature of Honor and virtue, Suthweil held that honor was a rigid code to be adhered to at all cost lest you be drawn astray and used as he had been. Belekrom disagreed and stated that such a belief would only lead to intractability and eventually failure, as he had learned from nature, If a tree did not bend in the storm it would surely break. This incensed his father and in his rage he banished the young Belekrom from his sight. With a heavy heart Belekrom gathered his things wished his mother well and set out to prove his father wrong.

For many years Belekrom wandered the realms of man, and exactly what happened is unknown. Rumors exist that he spent many a season in the mountains of the dwarves, or that he studied with the elves in their forest kingdoms. Some even claim that he spent a time with the dragons learning lessons that were only known to them. There is even a rumor that he searched for and found the being known as Lakota and studied at his side. But the truth remains known only to history and himself.

What is known is that Belekrom appeared again during the dark times after the war of the gods and lead a group of knights against the forces of evil that had been unleashed. His actions were legendary and he earned the respect and admiration of many. Such were his convictions and courage that in time he came to be regarded as a God and possessed the spheres of Healing, Justice, and Defensive Warfare.
