History of the Herit Family
The names of the dead Herits have long been forgotten by the only living son Chaon. When Chaon was a young boy of five he lived with his parents and three siblings. The entire family was strong worshippers of the now dead god Ceremon. The Herit family lived secluded from the rest of the world, guarding a precious artifact given to them by the Sun God.
It was because of this artifact that the Herit family was targeted by the Drow. The Sun hating dark elves came at night and brutally slaughtered the Herit family and desicrated the shrine of Ceremon as the searched for the artifact.
Chaon, who was born with a small gift of divination had warned his parents, yet they had paid no mind to the young boy. So in the dark of the night when the Drow came, Chaon hid in his bed with a dagger hidden beneath him. As a drow warrior slipped into his room to slit the boys throat he took the knife and plunged it into the dark elf. He then ran to his parents room to find them missing.
Panic struck him as he raced throgh the empty halls, hiding from the invaders. He slipped into his newborn sister Aerien's room and was overjoyed to see her still alive. He wrapped her up and hummed to her as he climbed out the window and ran to the shrine.
As he entered the once radiant building, he saw his parents bodies being overrun with spiders, eating their remains. He held back tears and clutched his sister close as he went to the altar and recovered a large pouch hidden so that only those with the Herit Sigil could find it. As he turned to go, a drow female stood in the door. She wore a smile and had a deep scar running down her face. She looked at the boy and baby then at the dead parents on the ground.
She slowly moved closer to the boy unsheathing her obsidian sword. Chaon fell to the ground and prayed to Ceremon hoping to reach his gods ears. The Drow nearly upon the boy laughed at his futile prayer. It was then that the pouch Chaon had grabbed burst forth with flames, and from it arose the Phoenix Reon. Reon saw its protectors dead, and saw a small boy cowering before a dark figure. It tooks its wings and wrapped them around the frightened child and then fanned its flames to such brightness that the drow was stunned. The woman ran and the phoenix stayed with the boy and baby, guarding them from all intruders.
Two weeks after the boy, his baby sister, and their guardian walked off into the woods. It was months before they found a shrine of Ceremon to take them in and care for them as they grew. Chaon followed his parents and became a cleric. The priests of the shrine were stunned at Chaons eagerness to help others, and his control over his power. They never knew of his constant darkness, his vengeful soul longing to destroy drow.
The Herit Family (present)
After Ceremons death, Chaon and his sister Aerien converted to Naufana. Chaon, already skilled, with divination felt at home amongst his new family. After years of adventuring he and his sister went to Imperial Thalos and built an estate. Reon guards the home from intruders, always prepared to defend against another attack. Aerien wanders the realms hidden often, while Chaon plays a more active role, searching for answers and gaining in skill, hoping to one day find the Drow woman that killed his parents.
