The goddess Sere, lady of secrets and illusion, was once travelling on a routine examination of her holdings, when she began to sense she was being followed. Attuning her powerful senses of detection, she realized that it was the Master of Winds himself pursuing her. She paused, that he might state that which he sought of her, and he seduced her.

Sere subsequently gave birth to an unusually handsome baby, with quick intelligence and learning. However, when Sere looked upon the soul of the child, she was repulsed and flung it into Asurake. There the child, Imoiran, matured, and learned the dark paths, and in time came to supplant his masters, and take the crown of Ruler of the Underworld himself. He wrested the spheres of Death and Carnage from pettier powers, having the might of his lineage to draw on. He shared rulership of the undead with his son Angantyr, Angantyr ruling the corporeal and Imoiran ruling the spirits.

Imoiran's followers overreached, seeking to spill their bloodshed too freely among the planes, and finally a cabal of the elder gods formed a coalition to remove him from power. The ancient goddess Dameyante, or Eringarathe, persuaded Angantyr to attempt to murder his father and take his power, then curdled the power that she had given him within his very veins, disabling both of them and allowing the allies to fall upon them.
