Character

Isevain is the Sixth Generation avatar of Eringarathe, goddess of civilization, magic and cities. She is the embodiment of enchantments and commerce. It is she that now maintains the banks of Arethuse.

Origin

Isevain was raised and trained by Sere and, she believed, Ceremon. In fact, Eringarathe had, prior to the Orchid Fall, seduced Ceremon, and became pregnant with Isevain. Immediately after she consumed most, or all of Ceremon, continued his romance with Sere, and even led his church for a while. Wearing Ceremon's body, Eringarathe translated Isevain to Sere's body, from which she was eventually born, having had three parents. She was raised by Sere, and trained in deception, as well as in all forms of magic, by Eringarathe disguised as Ceremon.

It was Isevain that was sent to tell Trecere that his sister Ourania had been murdered by Arastar, and ask him to assume Ourania's divine role. Trecere, flush with the abrupt surge of power as the new god of love, immediately seduced Isevain, by whom she had twin sons, Althad and Rethosse.

Isevain's origins were eventually revealed by Chaon Herit.

Ethos

Followers of Isevain are devoted to power, particularly as realized through magic, and will sacrifice anything to further their ambitions. One anonymous worshipper said, "Friendship to me means that for two bucks I'd beat you with a pool cue until you got detached retinas." The physical arts are secondary, but all are expected to maintain themselves well enough to fend off unexpected threat.

Weapon

She carries Eringarathe's weapon, Arcor the Vanquisher. Sometimes a sword, sometimes a whip or mace, it is most famous for having dealt the killing blow to the most ancient god of healing, Theriault. It was carried by Eringarathe's consort Halcyon, who presented it to Isevain himself.
