Ourania was born of Ceremon, god of magic, and Iolanthe, Queen of Faeryland. Ceremon had been travelling through one of his primal forests when he happened upon a group of faery nobility engaged in a hunt. Ceremon, travelling in the form of a jaguar, followed them back to their encampment, and eventually was there conveyed into the presence of the Queen. Though Ceremon and Iolanthe are no longer involved, there continues to be a strong sense of alliance between Faeryland and the realms of magic.

Ourania was raised within the faery lands for a time, but her power slowly showed to outstrip that which Iolanthe could safely teach. She was then remanded into the care of Ceremon, who taught her much magic.

Ourania served as the goddess of love and chance until the year 2286, when an ambitious mortal contracted Arastar, the Exiled Swan and Master of Assassins, to destroy her. Arastar kidnapped one of her lovers and thereby lured her to her doom. She was subsequently replaced by her less gentle brother Trecere.
